Oggi il blog compie SEI MESI! Davvero grazie a tutti quelli che passano di qui :) Ecco la lista n.3 dei libri che ho scelto per voi…

The blog is SIX MONTHS OLD today, thank you so much for visiting here :) Here’s list n.3 of the books I have chosen for you…

1) Shirley Jackson, “Abbiamo sempre vissuto nel castello”/We have always lived in the castle - l’autrice de “La lotteria” e maestra di Stephen King per ammissione di quest’ultimo, con un altro capolavoro del 1962 dopo Incubo a Hill House – leggete tutto quello di suo che riuscite ad arraffare – perfino se significa rubarlo!/the writer of The lottery and Stephen King’s own admitted mentor, with yet another masterpiece from 1962 after The haunting of Hill House - read everything by her you can put your hands on - even if it means to steal it!

2) Joe Cottonwood, “Le famose patate/Famous potatoes - gran bel romanzo on the road di uno scrittore dolce e umile che ha tonnellate di cose da raccontare, e lo ha fatto nel 1978, finalmente possiamo leggerlo in italiano/excellent on the road novel by a sweet humble writer that has tons to tell, and he indeed told it, back in 1978.

The new novel from a distinguished Dutch writer I encountered by chance, and how lucky!- set during the disastrous flood of Zealand in 1953, one sister drowns, the other survives at home, which of the two lives is going to be the most dense? Plus a crisp clear original writing voice.

4) Olen Steinhauer, “Il turista”/The tourist – romanzo di spionaggio innescato da un 11 settembre molto particolare, le spie sono Turisti e vivono senza fidarsi di nessuno, ma per l’irrequieto ex agente Milo Weaver diventa una ricerca di casae di responsabilità; molto buono, diventerà anche un film di George Clooney/ spy story ignited by a peculiar Sept 11th, spies are Tourists and they live without trust, but for the restless former agent Milo Weaver it becomes a quest for home and responsibility. Very good, it’s also going to be a George Clooney film.

5) Eudora Welty, “Una cosa piena di mistero”/On writing - i saggi sulla narrativa della grande scrittrice del Sud americano – soprattutto l’analisi del lavoro di Faulkner è lucida ed emozionante /the great southern writer’s essays about writing – especially lucid and moving analysis of Faulkner’s work.

6) Edward J. Said, “Joseph Conrad e la finzione autobiografica”/Joseph Conrad and the fiction of autobiography – nel 1966 il critico culturale di “Orientalismo” pubblicò questo saggio sul dilemma trans-culturale di Joseph Conrad attraverso la visione che si ricava dalle sue lettere tormentate/in 1966 the culture critic who wrote Orientalism published this essay about the dilemma of Conrad’s life across cultures through the vision expressed in his tormented letters.

For governments the third way between authoritarism and boundless freedom is called “libertarian paternalism” and it might actually be a good idea, at least Obama thinks so – economists learning from design, advertising and behavioural sciences.

8) Abraham J. Twerski, Su con la vita, Charlie Brown/rabbino e psicologo si rivolge al banchetto di Lucy per avere assistenza, e la trova – la saggezza dei Peanuts è ancora meravigliosa/rabbi and psychologist turns to Lucy’s stand for advice, and he finds it – the Peanuts’ wisdom is still amazing.
