La bella e la bestia

Alla Venaria Reale c’è l’elenco di tutti i mestieri dei dipendenti impiegati alla Reggia per quei perdigiorno dei Savoia, quasi 450 persone: stallieri, paggi, coiffeuses, sarte, parrucchieri, cuochi, lavandaie, assaggiatori, cameriere, il maggiordomo e il suo seguito, l’amministratore del caffè, quello della frutta, quello della cacciagione, quello della pasticceria. Ma il mio preferito, quello che avrei voluto essere, è il portatore di candele. Ogni sera prima che facesse buio faceva chilometri su e giù per la reggia con la sua provvista di candele, sostituendo i mozziconi nei candelabri, e dove passava lui tutto si illuminava.

At the Venaria Reale royal palace, one list is displayed of all the jobs that almost 450 employees performed everyday for those idler Savoia: grooms, hairdresser, pageboys, taylors, chamber-maids, cooks, washerwomen, tasters, the butler and his suite, the manager of coffee, that of fruit, that of game, that of patisserie. But my favourite, the one I wish I could have been, is the carrier of candles. Every night before darkness fell, he would walk miles up and down the palace with his supply of candles, replacing stubs with fresh candles in candelabra. As he was passing, everything would light up.

La posizione preferita dalla B in questi giorni di pioggia (trovo che esprima bene il concetto di “stare in campana”).

Ieri gita alla Venaria Reale (To), potete vedere i panorami a 360° qui: giardini a perdita d’occhio fino alle pendici del Gran Paradiso, la Sala Grande da togliere il fiato, la Citroniera con l’allestimento di vecchi ulivi e il teatrino, le Scuderie del Juvarra… Un solo giorno fuori da Milano sembra una vacanza di una settimana.
