La bella e la bestia

Continuo a essere convinta che sia come togliere la terra dalle ossa di dinosauro. Le ossa sono lì, non stai inventando niente, puoi solo avvicinarti sempre di più alla forma ripulita che dovranno avere perché anche qualcun altro possa riconoscerle.

I am more and more convinced that it’s like brushing the dirt off dinosaur bones. Bones are there, you are not inventing anything, you can only draw nearer and nearer to the cleanest form they’ll have for somebody else to see them too.

Porte che si chiudono e porte che si aprono. Sonno da autunno. Preparo la nuova trasmissione. La riscrittura finale del libro si prospetta come la parte più godibile, per cui me la tengo da parte per un po’, lasciando che anche NY dia il suo tocco fatato. Quello che mi sembrava irrisolvibile qualche settimana fa assume una luce diversa. Nuove interviste che mi danno gioia: Elizabeth Strout, David Peace, Rebecca Solnit, Ann Beattie. Parlare di libri :) Ci sediamo con gli amici a pensare come affrontare l’inverno con uno spirito nuovo.

Closing doors, opening doors. Autumn sleep. I’m getting ready for the new program.
