La bella e la bestia

B. compie 60 anni oggi – era stranamente saggio da giovane ed è straordinariamente giovane oggi. Mi fa specie pensare di aver ascoltato la sua musica per la maggior parte della mia vita, e per quasi metà della sua. Stavolta circolano voci che possa essere davvero l’ultimo tour con la E Street Band, per cui sono particolarmente felice di godermi due concerti al Giants Stadium, e di andarci con uno dei miei più cari amici. Aver passato tutto questo ultimo anno a faticare su un libro su quell’uomo rende questo momento ancora più significativo. Buon compleanno, signor B., lo sai che ti vogliamo un bene da pazzi.

B. turns 60 today – he was amazingly wise when very young and is amazingly young today. Funny to think that I’ve been listening to his music for the best part of my life, and almost half of his. This time there’s rumours it could be the last tour with the E Street Band, so I’m particularly happy to enjoy two shows at Giants Stadium, and I’m happy to make this trip with one of my best friends. Having spent the whole of this past year slaving away on a book about the man makes this moment all the more meaningful for me. Happy birthday, man, you know we love you crazy.
