la turista/the tourist

La città è avvolta da uno strano silenzio, le scuole chiuse e l’asfalto spaccato dalla neve, i gatti che dormono contro i caloriferi e le saracinesche abbassate sugli ultimi piccoli negozi. Sono una turista nella mia città, e spero di esserlo anche durante le vacanze che verranno. Nel frattempo, Alaska va in onda nei prossimi tre giorni prima dell’anno nuovo, e sto preparando qualche edizione registrata per i primi giorni del 2010. Sto leggendo un libro sul downshifting, e un messaggio di M. mi rammenta le troppe cose che teniamo da parte per quando saremo vecchi.
The city is enveloped in a quirky silence, schools are closed and the asphalt is broken by the snow, cats sleep against heaters and shutters are rolled down in the few last little shops. I am a tourist in my own city, and hopefully I will be during the oncoming holidays. In the meantime, Alaska is on air in the next three days before the New Year, and I’m getting ready for a recorded edition for the first days of 2010. I’m reading a book about downshifting, and a message from M. reminds me of the too many things we keep for when we’ll be old.
