più bestia che bella/more beast than beauty

Buon decimo compleanno Spoonbill & Sugartown, la libreria più amorosa del mondo! Anch’io, come gli altri clienti, mi sono lasciata fotografare col mio ultimo acquisto, e mi sa che finirò nel loro libro. Lo so, lo so, in questi giorni sono un po’ latitante. A parte il buio, il freddo, la pioggia, le bollette da pagare (e come direbbe John Belushi, le cavallette), è che mi mancano le parole per descrivere lo stato d’animo che accompagna questi ultimi giorni di lavoro sul libro. Un misto di euforia e di lutto, il terrore di quel che ne sarà, una solitudine mentale a cui non c’è rimedio, perché solo da soli si può scrivere e scrivendo si lotta con se stessi – non è una cosa che si riesca a condividere. Ma ci siamo quasi, e fra poco La Bella e la Bestia compie 1 anno!
Happy 1oth anniversary Spoonbill & Sugartown, the loveliest bookshop in the world! I too, like other customers, let myself be photographed with my latest purchase and will end up in their book. I know, I know, I’ve been a bit in hiding these days. Apart from the darkness, the cold, the rain, the bills to pay (and like John Belushi would put it, locusts), it is just that I lack the words to describe the mood that came upon me in these last working days on my book. It’s a mixture of euphoria and mourning, the terror of what will become of it, a mind loneliness to which there is no remedy, because you can only write alone and writing is battling with yourself – not something you can share. But we’re almost there, and very soon Beauty and the Beast turns 1!!
