A volte si comincia da una storia. Si racconta alle persone che la loro è una città affettuosa, e loro ricominciano a crederci, e a comportarsi di conseguenza.

Sometimes it starts with a story. You tell people that theirs is a loving city, and they start to believe it again and act accordingly.

Resto sempre senza fiato quando una foto cattura più quello che ho visto col cuore che con gli occhi.

I’m always speechless when a photo captures more of what I saw with my heart than with my eyes.

Si dice che ognuno debba trovare il suo punto di equilibrio fra l’adrenalina ideale e lo stress, e immagino che le ultime sei settimane siano state un’unica grande lezione sui miei limiti. Così adesso mi riprendo dall’ultimo giro di influenza e torno a cercare gioielli. Nel frattempo la città mi si sta letteralmente trasformando intorno. Per una volta, il mio voto conta qualcosa. Molte meno auto in città, il viaggio da e per il lavoro due volte più veloce, e un nuovo silenzio al quale non eravamo abituati.

It seems that you have to work a fine line between adrenaline and stress, and I guess the last six weeks have been a great lesson on knowing my limits. So now I am recovering from the last bout of flu and back to search for jewels. In the meantime, the city is literally transforming around me. For once in my lifetime, my vote counts for something. A lot less cars in the inner city, the time of my trip to and from work cut down of one good half, and a new silence we were not used to.

Casa finalmente un capolavoro di quiete e di lucine, e la B lo sa. La città tutt’intorno che respira soffice nel suo letargo d’inverno.

Home now finally a masterpiece of calm and twinkling lights, and the B knows. The city around me softly breathing in her winter sleep.

Le apparizioni nella notte, il tram è di gioielli e la strada di velluto, le mie amiche nella luce delle lampade dopo tanto tempo – mi sono trovata a ballare un pochino a mezzanotte ed era esattamente quel che ci voleva.

The apparitions at night, the tram is jewels and the road is velvet, my girlfriends in the light of lamps after a long time – I found myself doing a little dance at midnight and it was exactly what I needed.

A volte fa bene non sapere dove ci si trova esattamente.

Sometimes it’s okay to not know where one is exactly.

I am full of awe and wonder for everything that this year has been bringing. There was not one day when I wasn’t living to the fullest.
