La bella e la bestia

Claudia (@tigella) mi dice, ho avuto un’idea. E io dico, sì. E tre settimane dopo, passate innumerevoli notti insonni a cavarsi gli occhi nelle ricerche, a ripercorrere l’anno più avventuroso della nostra vita, rivivendo una tonnellata di emozioni, ecco il progetto collettivo con @strelnik, @ezekiel e @mehditek nato dalla sua idea, #yearinhashtag. E’ il nostro 2011 attraverso i momenti più importanti che abbiamo vissuto su Twitter – dalla Tunisia all’Egitto, dal Bahrain a Oslo, dalla Libia a Bin Laden a OccupyWallStreet, alle nostre amministrative di primavera. Per ogni argomento/hashtag trovate una scheda riassuntiva e i tweet, i link, le foto, i video più significativi di questi momenti che non volevamo perdere. E’ un regalo per voi, e un tributo alle migliaia di tweep e cyberattivisti che spesso in condizioni proibitive ci hanno permesso di raccontare la loro storia.

Three weeks later, after countless sleepless night slaving over research, retracing our steps in the most adventurous year of our lives, re-experiencing tons of emotions, here’s the collective project that was born out of her idea, #yearinhashtag (a version in English is coming soon). It is our 2011 through the most important moments we’ve been living on Twitter – from Tunisia to Egypt, from Bahrain to Oslo, from Lybia to Bin Laden to OccupyWallStreet. For every subject/hashtag you can find an essay and the most meaningful tweets, links, photos and videos illustrating the moments in time we just didn’t want to be lost. It is a gift for you, and a tribute to the thousands of tweeps anc cyberactivists who – often in prohibitive conditions – allowed us to tell their story throughout the year.

Non ci sono dubbi, nove anni dopo la mia prima Polaroid, mi arrendo al fatto che il mio formato è il quadrato, e la mia idea di fotografia umorale, non letterale. Credevo di avere un problema con la fotografia digitale, ma adesso Instagram mi aiuta a rielaborare foto rettangolari scattate con la Canon (che nei miei sogni avrebbero sempre dovuto essere quadrate) e mi permette di vederle come le avevo sempre avute in mente. E questo è un futuro delle mie foto che non avrei immaginato.

No discussion, nine years on since my first Polaroid, I surrender to the fact that the  square format is my format. And moody, non literal too. I thought I was a problem with digital photography, but now Instagram helps me reelaborate rectangular pics taken with Canon, which in my dreams should have been square in the first place, and lets me see them as originally intended. And this is a future for my pics that I would have never imagined.

La bellissima scuola Holden di Torino, dove crescono scrittori e sceneggiatori. E dove mi pagano per parlare per tre ore agli studenti della mia canzone preferita, invece di essere io che pago loro.

The most beautiful Holden School, where authors and screenwriters are trained. And where they pay me to speak for three hours about my favorite song, instead of it being me paying them.

Una partenza d’estate diabolicamente lenta, dopo aver corso a 100 all’ora per mesi. Sfortunatamente, secondo la mia esperienza, è anche il momento migliore per mettersi a scrivere.

A diabolically slow summer onset, after burning my candle at both ends for months. Unfortunately, according to my experience it is also the best time to sit down and write.

A. & co che lavorano e danno una mano su uno dei tre terrazzi dell’OstelloBello, che aprirà a luglio in via Medici 4 a Milano. E’ stata una gioia visitare il cantiere e vedere finalmente realizzarsi il loro sogno. Un luogo che prende forma dall’amore e dalla passione è una vera magia.

Una delle cose più meravigliose dell’iPad  è la app di Instagram, con i suoi filtri per foto quadrate che finalmente mi ricordano le adorate Polaroid, Lomo e Holga, le macchine giocattolo. Felice come una bambina.

One of the most beautiful things about iPad is the Instagram app, with its different filters for square pictures, finally reminding me of my beloved Polaroid, Lomo e Holga, the toy machines.  Happy as a baby.
