Si dice che ognuno debba trovare il suo punto di equilibrio fra l’adrenalina ideale e lo stress, e immagino che le ultime sei settimane siano state un’unica grande lezione su miei limiti. Così adesso mi riprendo dall’ultimo giro di influenza e torno a cercare gioielli. Nel frattempo la città mi si sta letteralmente trasformando intorno. Per una volta, il mio voto conta qualcosa. Molte meno auto in città, il viaggio da e per il lavoro due volte più veloce, e un nuovo silenzio al quale non eravamo abituati.

It seems that you have to work a fine line between adrenaline and stress, and I guess the last six weeks have been a great lesson on knowing my limits. So now I am recovering from the last bout of flu and back to search for jewels. In the meantime, the city is literally transforming around me. For once in my lifetime, my vote counts for something. A lot less cars in the inner city, the time of my trip to and from work cut down of one good half, and a new silence we were not used to.

Le apparizioni nella notte, il tram è di gioielli e la strada di velluto, le mie amiche nella luce delle lampade dopo tanto tempo – mi sono trovata a ballare un pochino a mezzanotte ed era esattamente quel che ci voleva.

The apparitions at night, the tram is jewels and the road is velvet, my girlfriends in the light of lamps after a long time – I found myself doing a little dance at midnight and it was exactly what I needed.

Il mercato comunale di quartiere – micropianeta di platanos e Inka-Cola – è molto più vicino alla realtà di quanto un sacco di persone vorrebbero. E a me piace molto.

The neighbourhood town market – microplanet of platanos and Inka-Cola – is much closer to reality than most people would wish. And I love it.

I left 2 euro in his fiddle case because he allowed me to take his picture. He’s not the greatest fiddle player but we say hi every morning ever since.
